For the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Fox Sports broadcasted live from a hybrid virtual studio and required immersive AR graphics. Using Unreal Engine, an augmented reality sequence was created featuring the World Cup trophy emerging dramatically from a virtual floor. The studio’s interior and exterior—wrapped entirely in LED screens—needed ambient visuals inspired by the tournament’s signature kufic tile patterns. These animations were designed in Cinema 4D and Blender using Geometry Nodes, creating flowing, wave-like motion that echoed the oceanic surroundings of the Qatari landscape. The project earned an Emmy Award for Outstanding Studio or Production Design/Art Direction.
